This is the second of three volumes covering the United States Census of 1830 for Tennessee. The first, on East Tennessee, was published in 1969. The third, on West Tennessee, was available in 1972. The present work contains the names of about 33,000 heads of households residing in the 14 counties of Bedford, Davidson, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Maury, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Sumner, Warren, White, Williamson, and Wilson. The area occupied by these 14 counties now includes, in addition to the original 14, the counties of Cannon, Cheatham, Clay, Coffee, DeKalb, Grundy, Macon, Marshall, Trousdale, Putnam, and Van Buren. Each name appears twice, once in the order in which it was listed on the original schedules, and again in the alphabetical index, with additional detail on sex and age groups, and a single area-wide index by household head. Each entry in the index is keyed to the microfilm reference and page number. Only names of the heads-of-household are given, with sexes and age groups of the family described in statistical detail. The body of each book is arranged by county in the same order as the schedules. There is an index for each book for locating the entry of your choice.
